On Monday, 12 June 2023 (2080 Jestha 29 BS), Bharatpur Metropolitan City held an interaction programme with the private sector on sustainable waste management for the city. The programme was organised by the Office of the Municipal Executive and took place in the presence of Mayor Renu Dahal, Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari and Chief Administrative Officer Narendra Kumar Rana.
Safa Urja took part as one of the private-sector partners, with its team led by Dr. Sunil Hamal. Drawing on our hands-on experience of managing and processing organic waste at Bharatpur’s wholesale vegetable and fruit market, we shared practical ideas on how the city and private companies can work together on separation at source, collection, material recovery and turning organic waste into fertiliser.
