On Thursday, 5 October 2023 (2080 Ashwin 18 BS), Ward 2 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City held a clean green farming promotion campaign (рд╕рдлрд╛ рд╣рд░рд┐рдпрд╛рд▓реА рдЦреЗрддреА рдкреНрд░рд╡рд░реНрдзрди рдЕрднрд┐рдпрд╛рди). Safa Mal, our organic fertiliser, was handed over at the farm with Mr. Thir Prasad Dhital, president of the fruit and vegetable association, and Mr. Manoj Ranabhat, Ward 2 chairperson of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
From the market back to the field
This Safa Mal was made entirely from the vegetable and fruit waste of the Bharatpur wholesale market (Sabji Mandi), which Safa Urja managed and processed as part of our project with Bharatpur Metropolitan City. The market community was proud to see its own waste come back as fertiliser for local farms: a simple, local example of a circular economy.
- Market waste is separated and composted instead of being dumped
- The compost feeds the soil and reduces the need for chemical fertiliser
- Green, clean farming inside the city is promoted, ward by ward
Thank you to the Ward 2 office, the fruit and vegetable association and everyone who joined the campaign.
