On Saturday, 19 April 2025 (2082 Baisakh 6 BS), a wildlife and environment conservation awareness rally was held in Ratnanagar and Sauraha, Chitwan, as part of the 30th Wildlife Week. The rally was organised by Mrigakunja Buffer Zone User Committee, in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park, with Safa Urja Utpadan Pvt. Ltd. among the many coordinating organisations, alongside local clubs, women’s groups and cultural groups.
The rally’s theme was understanding wildlife behaviour to reduce human–wildlife conflict and loss. Tharu women’s cultural groups led the procession with traditional dances and music, and the Safa Urja team walked with our banner, “Build the habit of separating waste at the source — a beautiful town is our only way forward.”
Messages carried by the Safa Urja team
- Clean air, long life — and the smoke from burning plastic and waste harms our lungs
- Clean fertiliser, clean water — organic fertiliser keeps soil and water healthy
- Protect water sources — do not dump waste near springs and rivers
- Use less plastic — reduce, reuse, recycle
- Make Wildlife Week a success — protect nature, and nature will protect us
- Respect sanitation workers who keep our town clean at their own risk
- Not just words, but action — separate waste at home and stay aware of the environment
Forests, wildlife, water and clean air all depend on how we handle our waste. Thank you to Mrigakunja Buffer Zone User Committee, the cultural groups and all the organisations and community members who joined.
