As a business initiative, Safa Urja started commercial onion farming using our own Safa Mal organic fertiliser, in association with the municipality and an agriculture campus. The work is part of a commercial onion promotion programme for fiscal year 2081/82, and it shows in a real field what fertiliser made from separated organic waste can do for a commercial crop.

- Method: seedlings planted through plastic mulch, which keeps moisture in the soil and holds back weeds
- Investment: shared equally between the beneficiary and the project
The initiative closes the loop that our work is built on: vegetable, fruit and green waste becomes Safa Mal, and Safa Mal goes back into the soil to grow food. It also gives local workers, many of them women, paid work in the field. We thank the municipality, the agriculture campus and everyone working on the plot.
