Safa Urja produces two organic fertilisers that work together. Safa Mal is the base fertiliser applied when planting. ObiFert is the top dressing applied at each weeding as the plant grows.
Flowers
At planting (Safa Mal): 50-60 g (2-3 handfuls) per plant.
At each weeding (ObiFert): 25-30 g (1-1.5 handfuls) per plant.
Banana
Safa Mal: 2-3 kg per pit at planting, mixed with the soil.
ObiFert: 250-500 g per plant every 2-3 months, in a ring around the base.
Rice
Safa Mal: 100-150 kg per ropani, broadcast before the final ploughing.
ObiFert: 20-25 kg per ropani at the tillering stage.
Mango
Safa Mal: 5-10 kg per year for young trees (1-3 years); 20-30 kg per year for mature trees, applied in a ring out to the drip line.
ObiFert: 1-2 kg per tree before flowering.
Dragon fruit
Safa Mal: 3-5 kg per pole at planting.
ObiFert: 500 g – 1 kg per pole every 3 months.
Vegetables
Safa Mal: 2-3 kg per 10 square metres when preparing the bed, or 1-2 handfuls per plant at transplanting.
ObiFert: 1 handful (20-25 g) per plant at each weeding.
Maize
Safa Mal: 50-100 kg per ropani before sowing.
ObiFert: 1 handful per plant at the knee-high stage.
Citrus (orange, lime)
Safa Mal: 10-15 kg per tree once a year.
ObiFert: 1 kg per tree, twice a year.
Points to remember
- Always mix the fertiliser well into the soil – do not simply scatter it on top.
- Water lightly after application.
- For trees, apply in a ring out to the drip line, never against the trunk.
- Safa Mal is chemical-free, so the risk of fertiliser burn is low.
- Store in a dry, shaded place.
